Billy Dail – Co-Owner
Billy Dail moved to Boone from Goldsboro, NC to attend Appalachian State University. He studied Communications, all the while promoting the underground DJ scene and discovering his love of event promotions. As an active DJ in NC since the mid-90’s, he frequently threw parties and events in Boone and Asheville. For the past fifteen years, Billy has worked as an Audio Visual Manager in several large hotels. Passionate about bringing people together through live music and a good time, along with encouragement from family and friends, Billy decided to pursue his dream of creating an atmosphere where people can come together through the creation of Crown Station. In his free time Billy enjoys supporting the local Charlotte sports scene with his son, Sergio.
Mike Dawson – Co-Owner
Mike Dawson, from Rustburg, VA, moved to Boone, NC to pursue his Communications degree from Appalachian State University. Mike was heavily involved in the sports scene while attending college, especially in wrestling and football. Billy and Mike met their sophomore year and quickly became best friends. Excited about the opportunity to aid in the creation of Crown Station, Mike and Billy joined forces as business partners. For the last ten years, Mike has worked as an insurance salesman, adding to his enthusiasm for providing excellent service to those in his community. For fun, Mike enjoys spending family time at the beach and, of course, supporting the local ASU alumni chapter.
Kyle Heath – Co-Owner
Kyle Heath, a Charlotte native, moved to Boone to study Business at Appalachian State University. Kyle and Billy were potluck roommates while attending college, beginning a friendship that has lasted throughout the years. Crown Station is Kyle’s fourth business endeavor, his last being a successful independent coffee shop in Chapel Hill. Being heavily involved in the bar industry for the last twelve years, Kyle brings a vast knowledge of technique and style to Crown Station. In his free time, Kyle enjoys rooting for the Carolina Panthers and is looking forward to contributing to the already vibrant culture in NoDa through the rebirth of Crown Station.
Celia Thompson – General Manager
Celia Thompson moved to Charlotte from White Sulphur Springs, WV in 2007 to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University. After graduating, she quickly began working in high-volume kitchens throughout the Queen City, all the while helping to promote the growing Charlotte nightlife. In 2012, Celia joined Crown Station to create and host weekly trivia and karaoke events. She began bartending and managing Crown soon after and has never looked back. Celebrating her love for expressing herself through food and beverages, Celia stays current in the Charlotte craft cocktail scene by attending various beverage U.S. Bartenders Guild events. In the interim Celia has been Continuing her involvement in the local comedy scene at The Comedy Zone in the Music Factory. She is thrilled to bring her experience from a national comedy club to Crown Station. Celia enjoys socializing with friends around the city and supporting the local arts and events in her free time.
Ryan “Happy Hippy” Armstrong – Bar Manager
Ryan Armstrong, better known as “The Happy Hippie,” found his way to Charlotte from Asheville, NC five years ago. Originally from Rocky Mount, NC, Ryan grew up with a passion for entertaining. Looking for a place to display his musical talents and meet new people in Charlotte, Ryan found a home in Crown Station. As the Bar Manager at a high-end restaurant, Ryan realized his potential for designing exquisite drinks through his seasonal craft cocktail creations. Through his knowledge of this as well as signature coffee drinks, Ryan quickly became a pivotal team member at Crown Station. In his spare time, Ryan loves playing disc golf and being a part of Charlotte’s growing music scene.
